United Airlines is planning to power their jets with biofuel and increase their environment friendly quotient.
Fulcrum BioEnergy plans to have a new plant in Gary, Indiana, that will create 33 million gallons of fuel from 700,000 tons of waste each year.
invested in Fulcrum in 2015. It will be able to purchase 15 million gallons from the Gary, Indiana, plant to fuel their jets.
United’s agreement with Fulcrum allows it to purchase 90 million gallons per year from the expected six plants that Fulcrum is planning to build. Reno, Nevada is one of the sites where a plant is expected.
Gary, Indiana, plant construction will begin in 2020 and take about two years to begin operations.
As per Fulcrum, trash-made biofuel will reduce emissions by 80 per cent. The eco-friendly move will protect the Earth since the trash will not fill landfills and produce toxic gases.
United Airlines used 2.5 billion gallons in the first nine months this year. United Airlines aims to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to half by 2050. Biofuel is one of the measures to achieve it.
The trash that the world throws away will fuel their travel across the globe.
