Propel Program hosts on-campus events, application window open now for students and employees

Delta recently launched the Delta Propel Pilot Career Path Program to identify, select and develop the next generation of pilots. This industry leading program complements the traditional, existing paths to becoming a Delta pilot and has three main areas of focus — college, company and community.

As part of its college path, Delta is hosting on-campus events at all of its eight partner colleges. Students, faculty, parents and administrators are invited to the local kick-off events to learn more about the program and meet with the Delta Propel team and Delta leadership.

Events have already taken place in Middle Georgia State University and Auburn University, with more than 300 attendees at each event. Additional school visits will continue to take place throughout the month.

The collegiate career path offers students at select institutions the opportunity to join a defined, accelerated and customized path from college to Delta.  This program allows Delta to recruit talented pilots at an earlier stage in their career, provide a Qualified Job Offer to selected students and be an integral part of their professional development.

The College Path application window is open now and closes Sept. 5 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Delta is initially partnering with eight universities with accredited aviation programs to interview collegiate aviation students.

Initial partner universities include:

The internal company career path is a highly selective program to provide current Delta employees a career transition opportunity and the support to pursue a pilot career. This program will allow Delta to continue to invest in its people, tapping into their passion for aviation and the strength of the Delta culture.

The Company Path application window is open now and closes Sept. 15 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Eligible candidates for either the college or internal company path will receive an invite to complete the full application within 1-2 days after creating a profile. Note, it is recommended to use a Google Chrome or Firefox browser to complete the application.

During the next decade, Delta expects to hire more than 8,000 pilots to staff the thousands of daily flights it operates around the world as other pilots approach mandatory retirement age. The Propel program will supplement the airline’s current recruiting structure, which includes recruiting and hiring pilots currently flying in the airline, military and corporate sectors.

Regardless of the path, any pilot participating in the program will meet all the qualification requirements and testing aspects of Delta’s current pilot hiring model, which will be metered over the course of their development.
