American Airlines is doubling flight service from Palm Springs to Chicago in October 2018

American Airlines will double its daily flights from Palm Springs to Chicago in October.

The carrier is offering a second daily trip to the Windy City and American Airlines already appears to be accepting reservations.

Scott White, president and CEO of the Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau said that they are ready to go.

A round trip cost about $450 as of Tuesday, and departures are scheduled for 12:11 and 3:51 p.m. each day. The expanded service increases American Airlines’ total flights in October from 54 in 2017 to 112 in 2018. The number of available seats will be up from 8,640 last year to 17,920 this year.

The number of daily flights through May will continue to be up each month from last year and there should be a total of 949 American Airlines flights from Palm Springs to Chicago in the upcoming season.

The announcement comes about a week after travel officials announced Delta Airlines would be offering flights from Palm Springs to Atlanta beginning in December.

United Airlines has announced in May that it will offer nonstop flights between New York/Newark and Palm Springs beginning in December. That followed JetBlue’s announcement in April that it will continue providing nighttime nonstop flights between Palm Springs and New York City beginning in October, which is a month earlier than usual.

American Airlines has added a red-eye from Palm Springs to Dallas Fort Worth for the summer season, June 7ththrough August 20th.
