tourism-tasmania-logoTasmania is now just one ticket away for travellers from one of our emerging international tourism markets following another major airline agreement.
Virgin Australia and Singapore Airline Group’s low-cost, medium haul arm Scoot have agreed to link services from Singapore to Melbourne with flights to Hobart and Launceston from today.
This partnership means travellers can book flights all the way from Singapore to Tasmania, via Melbourne, on a single ticket, with the same arrangement for departing flights too.
This will make it easier for holiday-makers in Singapore to get to Tasmania, opening up huge potential in the growing Singapore market which was up by 12 per cent in the year to September.
This adds to Scoot’s already existing agreement with Virgin for flights to Hobart and Launceston via Sydney.
This is another major vote of confidence in our tourism industry from one of the world’s leading airlines.Scoot Chief Executive Office Campbell Wilson said he was sure this addition would build on Scoots Australian success.
“Since Scoot commenced flights between Singapore and Melbourne last November, the response has been amazing,” Mr Wilson said.
“Our fantastic value airfares, plentiful choices and service with Scootitude have clearly proven a hit, so we’re delighted to be making them even more accessible to Tasmanian and overseas visitors through the extension of our partnership with Virgin Australia.”
Agreements such as this will help to reach our target of attracting 1.5 million visitors to Tasmania every year by 2020.
